Inspection Dos and Don'ts

TRANSPACIFIC YACHT CLUB

Congratulations on your recent entry into the most prestigious yacht race in the world - the 2008 Los Angeles, California to Papeete, Tahiti Transpacific Yacht Race. For your convenience Inspection of the vessel must be completed by Sunday, June 15, 2008. This will allow ample time to remedy any discrepancies.

This is a courtesy inspection and does not relieve the owner/charter of his/her obligation of fulfilling the equipment requirements for a Category I race. Copies of the current 2006-2007 U.S. Edition of ISAF Special Regulations, governing offshore and oceanic equipment preparation, can be obtained from most marine hardware stores (West Marine, etc.) or Transpacific web site: http://www.transpacificyc.org

DO'S AND DONT'S

  • DO Make a timely appointment prior to Sunday July 1, 2007 for your inspection.
  • DO Be on time.
  • DO Have all equipment neatly displayed or in its proper location for the inspector.
  • DON’T Failure to have your vessel inspected may be grounds for disqualification and/or penalty.
  • DON’T Be late for your appointment.
  • DON’T Tell the inspector that you will have items of equipment not aboard at the time of the inspection aboard for the race. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

If all items required are not aboard the vessel at the time of the inspection, the inspector may charge a fee for a second visit to your vessel.

Enclosed you will find Crew Medical Profiles and instructions.

Good Luck! Safe sailing is fun sailing, and we’ll see you at the finish line.
