44th Biennial Transpacific Yacht Race / Los Angeles to Hawaii Transpacific Yacht Club, Al Garnier, Commodore May 23, 2007 The Kauai Channel race is happening August 3 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The Nawiliwili Yacht Club is teaming up with the Ko'Olina Marina again for another exciting channel race from Ko'Olina, Oahu to Nawiliwili, Kauai. The 78 mile race will start in the early morning daylight hours of Friday August 3, 2007. Everyone in Hawaii who has a sailboat over 21' LOA is invited to participate. Classes include monohull, multihull, cruising and HYRA club. The Kauai Channel Race was first sponsored in 1973 by the Hanalei Bay Yacht Club. Since 2004 NYC has teamed up with Ko'Olina Marina to sponsor the current version of the channel race. Entry forms are available on the web at www.kauaichannelrace.com or by contacting Sharon Gibson at 808-742-2512. The $50. entry fee includes up to 2 days of slip fees at Ko'Olina Marina before the start and at the Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor after the finish, on a space available basis at both harbors. The awards ceremony and party will take place on Saturday evening , August 4, 2007. As in years past , this will be a fun evening of great food and dancing.
