TO THE RACERS READ THIS before sending messages to any of the racers! |
||||||||||
|
There is now a
Daily Arrivals page where you can post messages to the crew. A page will
be set up for each yacht shortly after they finish. You can post messages
there where will be posted right away. But you can still send e-mail to
the yachts to me but it might take even longer for them to be posted with
the yachts finishing. Thank you for taking an interest
Messages
are posted at the top of the page as they are received. When
the 2001 race begins we will be posting messages from the fleet
on this page. Check out the emails received during TransPac
'99. Messages to the boats should now be sent to lisa@gold.chem.hawaii.edu and will be posted on this page. Newest e-mails will be on the top of the page, more or less. They will be posted as time allows. Remember, after the race starts there are many things to do to maintain this site. Messages sent need to be formatted and downloaded. This is not like the normal email systems that run on your computer. We apologize in advance for the delays we know we will experience in getting these messages up in a timely manner.

Hi Casey...been watching your progress daily. You guys are doing a
great job, very proud of you. I have to go move the rest of my mom's
stuff tomorrow, so I will be "without computer" through the weekend.
I'm gonna miss your finish so congratulations in advance and have a
tropical drink for me. I'll email you when I get back. Hope you had a
great time on the water. In endurance riding (on horses) our motto is,

you reach the Islands.

Seth & Crew: Well, it looks like you had another very good day! Therweather
also looks like it's been pretty good for sailing. Hope you're all getting
enough sleep and eating well to keep up your energy and spirits for the rest of
the race. We are all sending you messages but either you just don't have the
time to send a note or there is something wrong with the new computer. Either
way, we know that you are OK because we get the updates. The 4th here was
great....we could see fireworks from about 15 different locations from our
terrace...it was spectacular but still not as much fun as going out on 'Bad
Boy' on the Lake. Dad and I really got nostalgic for the first time. Hope all
is well...take care, Love Mom

This message is for the yacht Cantata. Hey Stephen !. You're looking great
out there. Hope everything is going good for you. All the luck in the
world!
Rick and Vince,
July 4th was fantastic! Two barges, one parked above the point and one just
down the beach from our house...the fireworks were timed to intertwine with
each other...it was super long and loud and the girls went crazy! Delicious
food, C. went boogie boarding with Olivia and caught some really good waves.
She was very proud, P. was trying hard but needed a boost from you...I told
her she could boogie board with you in Hawaii. S. dug up at least 10 giant
sand crabs and set up a race course....it was a superb day. We are all
missing you, checking the tables and charts daily and generally wishing you
extreme speed. We love you,
Bob I heard about your adventure Tuesday from June
@ AXA.Sounds like a great trip, watch for flying fish.
We are following your progress, best of luck.
Looking forward to the stories, see you at the Gary

Hi Greg,
It's July 5th, and the fourth is over once more. It was very quiet and
sedate. I guess because of its being on a Wednesday.
Cindy and Scott and the kids came and spent the day on the beach and in
kayaks. Dave went out with Scott, and they paddled around the Island. He
had a good time.
I am driving back up to Oregon with Dave on Saturday, and will stay for two
weeks. Hope it is cooler there than here. It has really been muggy!
Not much more news to impart. Hope all is going well aboard Taxi Dancer. It
looks like you are in third place in your division at the moment. I'll keep
track. How come there are no pictures for Division II boats???
Much love! Mom

Rough life out there sailing under full moon & spinnaker, someone has
to do it! Bix did well at the 4th of July parade despite many volleys
from the Legionaires. Watched Lopez's and F.H.'s fireworks
simultaneously from American Camp. Bix came out swimming w/ me. Enjoying
Tad's emails. Love, B

Happy Belated Birthday Dad - Bob Vickerstaff Senior - July 1st
The Family that could not be there with you want to wish you a happy 66th,
this is probably the first birthday anyone has made you go to work on, at
least I hope Barry made some concessions. You guy's are doing great, we are
able to keep track quite well online. You are about 90 miles behind
Stardust, I think you have given them enough of a cushion, time to reel them
in.
Every one is well at home, The Porsche will be out of the shop soon, they
say the damage was not nearly as bad as it looked - Just kidding.
Stay safe and enjoy the trip, tell Barry that Percy has never had to come up
with a favorable wind before so it might take him some time. Timing and
opportunity are no problem, wind might be tougher.
I/We love you and Wish you well.
Bob Vickerstaff Jr.
Look after Dad, Leigh and the Kids are well and hope you are having the time
of your life as do we all.
If there is anything you want me to look after since you may be a little
longer than expected, please write back or give me a call, I would be happy
to help. Don't stress out, 6 weeks from now we will still be talking about
the trip, work can and will wait an extra week.
Stay safe and enjoy the time off, I hope you don't have to bunk with Dad, it
would kind of take away from the peaceful surroundings. If it gets really
bad you could put him in the lifeboat and tow him while he sleeps.
Sunscreen - Check, Gravol - Check, Sunglasses - Check, earplugs - Awe

I hope they are feeding you well or you are feeding them well.
We love you both and wish you all the best.

humidity.

capt.mikey
Hi all,
I have been praying for more wind to push that heavy vessel along. Today
looks better than yesterday. Here's hoping you keep picking up speed as we
are counting on a timely arrival. We think the boat pics are great and have
enjoyed them thoroughly. You look well and happy. The pictures help
non-sailers understand the concept of racing sailboats for long distances.
Keep pushing you all. Hope to see you sooner rather than later.
Best to all and special love to the Eddys. Janet, Mom
To: Jim Wasti,
Way to go Mystere, we're pulling for you guys. Way to go.
Hi Jim Wasti,
Nor-ton,
We are tracking the race on the net and wonder how a 47 year old, flabby,
senile navigator can be laying a course that keeps you in the race. Must
have been the intense training that you and Big Ed did during your college
days at PLU. I am glad to see you are doing better than two years ago when
you were on the Royal Caribbean cruise.
Hang tough, you are doing great.
Win one for Frosty.
Lance
Hi Dad,
Love you always,
To the crew of the Sea Dancer:
HELLO CREW (YASSOU-JIM AND NANCY)
HOPE ALL IS WELL----HOW'S THE TACKING AND TICKING AND ALL THAT NAUTICAL
STUFF? I WILL TRACK YOUR PROGRESS.
DR JOHN
Hi to the crew and especially Ken on the Mystere:
Wishing all of you the best and most of all, be safe. Try to go faster. Get
rid of the candy bars. Ken: Kelly got 2nd place in Inter-club. Can't wait to
see you at the finish line.
Hi Jan and Jim:
To Seth and Crew:
We are following you...Tried to send e-mail but it didn't go through.
Best of Luck to you all...may you have smooth sailing and fair
weather.....GOOOOO FASSSSSST!!!!!
Hail to the Crew of the Bonaire and TCC,
Everyone is having too much fun from the pictures on the website. We are
all enjoying them, except I don't see TCC?
Got ya on the graph. Looks good. Good luck and full sails. GO RAGTIME!!
Jerry Montgomery,
Looks like you are off to a good start...keep it up...all the way to the
beaches of Hawaii!!! Too much sand here in Las Vegas to do any
sailing!!!
Good Luck & Good Sailing.........
Joe Benko

Attention Greg Weeger and Jeff Silver - "Ragtime"
Hey you crazy Seppo's! I was home goofing around on the internet tonight
and realized that Transpac time had come around again and I wondered if I'd
recognize any names. After all my one and only Transpac was way back in
1995! Sure enough you two are back out there again...
Man am I ever jealous -it's winter here and I'm working!
Good Luck and knock back a few Mai Tai's when you get there for your old
mate from Down Under.
John Lamble
Hi Joe
This is a great site!!! Tracking your every move. I've been playing around
in the Continental Regatta here in the bay this week. Boats from all over
North America, but peanuts compared to your voyage.
Mark Scott, and all the staff at Post Modern Sound.
We are all watching your progress through the computer. Keep up the good
work. Everything here is great. I hope you can get this message. We will
be glad when you are all back home.Have fun and be safe. Walt Hannah is
sitting up and crawling now. Keep in touch.
